The goal of the Special Needs Registry is to ensure all Rahway residents who may be in need of special assistance are able to get the help and support they need in a time of emergency or during interaction with Law Enforcement, Fire or EMS personnel.

The Special Needs Registry is a voluntary service open to all citizens with disabilities who reside, attend school, or are employed in the City of Rahway. The registry was created to help police officers and other emergency personnel, better assist residents with special needs in the event of an emergency by providing those first responders with vital information regarding a registrant’s disability, emergency contact information, physical description, and current photograph.

The information provided will be shared with police and first responders so that they will be better equipped to serve registrants in the event of an emergency or evacuation in their area. No one else will have access to the information.

The first line of defense against the effects of a disaster is personal preparedness.  During an emergency, the government and other agencies may not be able to meet your needs. It is important for all citizens to make their own emergency plans and prepare for their own care and safety in an emergency. Registering on this website is not a guarantee that emergency officials will be able to assist you in an emergency.
